One month

I have the best husband! Our one month aniversary was on Saturday, and he brought me home orange gerbera daisies... my favorite! I love you Dixon!

Our fun weekend

This weekend was so much fun... we had FAMILY come visit!! I love family, and I feel like I haven't seen family in so long(other than Dixon, I get to see him every day... its my favorite)! Carolyn, Chase, and Hannah came up on Friday night and played with us all day Saturday. We had a yummy breakfast (compliments of Dixon... he is a really really good cook), we went to Get Smart, we played Rock Band, we checked out the Groove Fest, and we went four wheelin... not to mention what we do best: hang out! Hannah even watched Full House with me... I was in heaven, its not often that I can get people to watch Full House with me... it was me and Ky's favorite! Good times, Good times!!! We love you guys!

I don't know how to write right under the pictures, so I'll add some comments here: Notice that I really really love Hannah and Chase because I put their Rock Band picture on there twice and I can't remove it! I love the one of Dixon sitting on Hannah and Lyla sittin on Dixon... that's Lyla's favorite spot: right on Dixon's shoulder... thats my favorite spot too, so me and Lyla fight sometimes! O ps, find the picture that has me in it... its like playing where's Waldo:) hehehe

Happy Birthday Siddle Sue

My little Syd is seven years old as of last week! For those of you who don't know, Syd is my bud. We just have a special connection... she can always sense when I'm sad or discouraged and gives me a kiss on the cheek for encouragement. She has a paper with my phone number and address on it that she keeps by her bed so she can call or write me any time, and each time she see's me or calls me the first thing she says is.. "SHAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!" I learn so much from her. About two weeks before me and Dixon got married, I was tuckin her in and she wanted me to lay with her, so I did and as I was layin there, she started crying because "I'll still get to see you, but I won't get to see you that often!" She has such a tender heart, and is always thinking of other people! One night two years ago I was tuckin her in and she looks at me and says "Shaylee, I am a child of a loving Heavenly Father, and he loves you too!" She always asked for me to tuck her in from the time she was little. We love to go get ice cream together and rent a movie of her choice! She is a burst of sunshine, and she is always helpin me put things into perspective! I think my favorite memory with Syd is when we were sittin at the dinner table and my brother says "Mom, this butter tastes funny," and Lyndee says, "Its because mom bought light butter," and Syd tops it off and says "Ya, we don't like butter light, we like butter dark!" Hahahaha good times! Happy Late Birthday Syd, I love you!

Time Line

Twenty Years ago....
I wasn't even born yet

Ten Years ago...
I was eight years old in Mrs. Hodges and Mrs. Glouser's third grade. I would spend my days singing Celine's song on Titanic (I knew all three verses), playing with my two best friends Lauren Gines and Rachel Ruckert... and Kylee of course, and raising monarch butterflies from the time they were little caterpillars. I also got to have sleepovers when I turned eight... I was living on the edge.

Five years ag0...
I was in the eighth grade and had the biggest crush on this kid named Will in my math class. This was the year that I finally learned how to do makeup, and discovered my favorite movie: The Wedding Planner.

One year ago...
I had just graduated High School and was so excited about it... for some people, Highschool was made for them, but I don't think it was made for me. I had the dream job of lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons all day so I was a blonde bombshell with a killer tan! And once a week, me and my six year old sister Syd would go out for ice cream.

So Far this Year...
I have made it through one year of college, and I loved it. Survived six roommates who I love dearly, but are out of this world crazy some days. I got married to the love of my life... and he is an absolute stud! I survived two sinus infections, two ear infections, supposedly internal bleeding (those stupid doctors thought thats what I had) it turned out to be anemia, and we have a dog that keeps us on our toes!

Yesterday...
I successfully moved the remaining pile of gifts to a closet and decorated the guest room... it looks so cute! And then I almost killed my computer at the lab... I spent four hours doing one assignment. I picked up plain yogurt, not vanilla yogurt like I was supposed to, we took cookies over to our cute neighbors whos names are Jamie Lynn and Jason and their little boy Alan, enjoyed a really yummy taco dinner, had family night, and watched Apollo 13 with my sweet husband

This Year...
I will finish my associates at SUU!

Dixon wins

This weekend was a lot of fun! Thursday, Dixon and I went bowling... (notice that Dixon is the one with the orange ball and I am the one with the red ball... I guess our favorite colors changed for the night) I'm sad to report that Dixon won, I scored a mere 91 points which isn't bad for me (once I went on a date and scored 31) so its a good score for me people! After, we had an air hockey duel, Dixon beat me at this also, but don't be fooled, I was winning for the first half of the game, and then we spent the rest of our quaters on basketball... I won at this (because I had four hands... including Dixon's two!). So fun, So fun! On Friday we went and saw get smart, and I totally wanted to take a picture in front of the theater, but I chickened out! It was a great show, the humor wasn't all that dirty, and I love Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway. Then came Saturday, and if you want to hear about saturday look at Dixon's blog below called: At the Grind with Mason's Jar of Jam! So in conclusion, we are having a lot of fun as newly weds, life is good! Did I mention that my sweet husband brought me home flowers from work on Thursday... I am one lucky girl!:)

Sorry it took me so long to get some of our amazing wedding pics up. For those of you who don't know, its no secret that I am computer illiterate! So, I'm slowly learning... slowly being the key word there! We both loved our photographer, Molly, from Lindsay Jane Photography, she did an awesome job!

A Night at the Grind with Mason's Jar of Jam

For the past 9 months, I have wanted to check out one of the concerts at the Grind Coffee Shop on Main Street. It is a small place, but I had heard good things. After searching for a bit online earlier this week, I found their concert schedule. I listened to a few songs by two of the three groups scheduled to perform and liked it, so we decided to go last night.

It was a nice little setup. About 30-40 chairs set up in the back with a few tables and couches around the edges. A surprisingly nice sound system surrounded a nice stage. When we arrived, everything was setup and ready to go. The first performer was a girl named Jacqui Shields. It was her first time performing and she sang a few covers with a guy from one of the other bands playing the guitar. Other than one song she had to start over, it was a very good set; short and sweet.

Next up was a guy from Salt Lake named Andy Dalley. He was probably about 27 and had a decent voice. He sang all original stuff that I like more than Shay. I think he played a little longer than he should have, but Shay kinda tired of him after a song or two. He had some really cool lyrics and some original melodies that I really liked. He would have been a lot more entertaining with a full band supporting him.

A few smoothies later, it was time for the headliner, Mason's Jar of Jam. This band was made up of a few 30-40 year old guys and one girl in her mid 20s playing electric violin. They sounded very good. The violin gave them a a kinda country feel, but it was very upbeat. I wish I had known some songs so I would have been able to sing along, but they played a great set. It wasnt really my type of music, so I wont be buying their cd, but it was an entertaining show, especially in that setting.

All in all, the night was very fun. It was a cheap, different way to spend a saturday night and I am sure we will be regular concertgoers.

This coming weekend is a music festival called Groovefest. It is put on by the local record store, Groovacious, and features local and national acts. We are very excited to check it out and see what kind of talent is there. I am expecting some full on hippies, which can be found at just about any outdoor music festival! We will be sure to post some pictures from that!

Feeling a Bit Ambitious

Yesterday, I decided to go to a yoga class, now keep in mind that I have never really done a yoga class, but I was feeling ambitious, so I thought I would try it. To my dismay, when I got there the yoga teacher was absent, so I did the Sculpt and Stretch class instead. Its amazing that you can sculpt your body without using weights, I woke up this morning and can barely walk... it was one of those moments that I thought to myself "self, what on earth were you thinking????"
i was Dixon'a first day in his new office, so I got up early with him this morning. So after rolling out of bed and painfully walking into the kitchen to get breakfast, I was feeling ambitious once again and decided to go to the cardio pump class at nine. I didn't think I was too crazy, I mean, I excercise hard core at least five times a week... this class shouldn't be that hard. Well, for those of you who have never been to a cardio class... it kicks your butt... there are so many jumps, jumps with weights, squats, man it is quite the workout. I suddenly have a newfound respect for those who do these things every day. So my ambitious self walks into the class, finds a spot in the middle of the back half next to an old grandma. Well, come to find out, that old grandma kicked my butt... I was out of breath and wanted to die after just 35 minutes, and she was just barely warming up: lesson learned, don't sell the grandmas short.
So after about 40 minutes I had to let go of my pride and walk out... some of you may call this quitting, but I call this knowing when to step down. I can assure you that I will be going back to that class again just as soon as I master my at home dvd aerobics (this way I can stop when I want and not feel absolutely humiliated that I'm the one that can't keep up).
So its back to jogging, biking, and abs by myself for a while... hahaha I think it may be a while before I'm feeling ambitious again.

Little Things Learned

Now that I have lived on my own for about a week now, I think I need to give a shout out to my parents. These are things that I learned from, but didn't realize how grateful I am to know these things until I have had to do them all by myself:
-Learning that even though it is a dishwasher you have to clean the dish before you put it in if you want it to come out clean
-clean up after the dog, then use lysol, don't forget the lysol
-Make your bed first thing in the morning, it helps your day go a little smoother (I don't understand why that is, but my mom always told me that, and its true) Moms are always right
-When doing the wash reds and blacks go together, whites are separate from everything... and don't put any of my clothes in the dryer... this is the way to do laundry people!
-Crock pot dinners... need I say more... they are delicious and easy
-See people as people and not as objects that clutter your world (my dad taught me this one)
-Service is happiness, my mom taught me this through her example
-Tiger Woods is the best... just ask my dad
-Brush your teeth morning and night... hahaha I finally understand why! JK JK, I have always brushed my teeth morning and night
-If it doesn't taste good put ketchup on it (this one I learned from my mom when she was trying to get Landon to eat something new)
-Look at grocery store adds to find the best sales... even if it takes a long time, cuz it ends up being worth it
-Smile, its contagious

And the list goes on and on, but these are just a few that have stood out! Things are good with us, Dixon gets workspace in his office soon, and I'm supposed to be hearing back about a few jobs in the next few days. I think we are going to try yoga tomorrow and I'm sure that will definately need to be blogged about.

Married Bliss

Hello Hello, so people have been trying to get me to make a blog for the longest time now, and now that I'm married I figured it would be a good time to make one for the two of us so you guys can be updated on everything that happens in our newlywed lives. Our wedding day was more than a dream comke true... I mean it was better than my imagination could have ever come up with.. and ask Dixon, I have a BIG imagination, so thats saying something!
Simply put, I had a fairytale wedding... Once upon a time, We had so much help and support from our parents, I can honestly say we could not have done it without them! Our colors were fun because orange is my favorite color and rebel red is Dixon's favorite color, so we each got our favorites!
I think the thing that was most fun was smearing cake all over Dixon's face! When it was time to cut the cake he looked at me and said "this is going in your face" and so I made sure to get it all over his face before he got mine! I wanted to lick it off his face, I mean afterall, we're married right, there are no limits! hahaha
My cousins and the flower girls all helped decorate our truck, it was covered in oreos and gum drops, and considering the fact that we had all this delicious food at our reception and no time to eat it, they looked extra tasty! But a bride licking things off a truck might not be the cutest picture!
Our photographer made me look like a model... I could't be happier with our pictures! In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, we look HOT! Dixon picked out the tuxes, and I had my concerns, but they looked so sharp and the shoes were awesome too! And after looking and contemplating brides maids and flower girls dresses for roughly 80 hours or more, I'm so happy with the ones I chose (even though the brides maids were flashing people because of the wind with their dresses.. thanks for being good sports guys) everyone looked amazing! My mom didn't ever think she would wear black to my wedding, but she looked fantastic as well, her and Carolyn should have been bridesmaids because they both look so young and cute!
Our wedding dance was to the song "Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop" and little did you know, but me and Dixon are singers, well we try to be, but we sang the whole song to each other while dancing. As I like to say, It was Tender!
The neatest thing about our wedding though, was simply this: it rained and rained the week of our wedding, and for our wedding day it was sunny and beautiful and the next day it poured rain... we must be doing something right because we were so blessed with such a beautiful day!
The other thing that was so special was that grandpa dixon got to seal us in the bountiful temple!
