How in the world?

He went from here...

To here in all of 30 seconds!

Somedays I feel like I can't quite keep up with him!

(sorry for the phone pics!)

I cannot even begin to explain the happiness that was this boy when I told him we could bring this home!

He had a hard time falling asleep tonight because he wanted to keep playing.
This boy loves him some basketball.

...when I have grown a foot or two

Let me introduce you to Elder Leavitt:

He's a missionary in training right now!

Sawyer found daddy's mission tags and I couldn't resist.
He knows all about missionaries because his uncle Chase is serving in London. If you ask him who the missionary is, he gets excited and says, "Cheese!"

He was tryin so hard to do it himself!

Not quite tall enough buddy! Makes my heart happy that he still needs me.

The boy loves Elmo

Some mornings you just need a good dose of Elmo to get you up and running!

Ps he loves those jammies because he has monkeys on his feet!

Disney adventures

This past spring my branch worked our butts off at work. I've never worked so hard in my life... But it was worth it. Oh so worth it! Because of our hard work, my branch won a trip to Disneyland for the weekend and put us up at the Grand Californian hotel, which in and of itself is a trip!
Our first stop was Radiator Springs in Cars Land! That land is seriously pretty darn awesome. I really felt like I part of the movie, they did a great job! We got a family picture and got outa there. That place was packed to the brim. Notice sawyer giving his thumbs up!

My work catered a banquet dinner and a breakfast for us, and Sawyer loved the front loops. It's the first time I've really let him have sugared cereal. But it's Disneyland, so what the heck!

Sawyer was excited to see Goofy until he got up close, then he became a little shy. Not scared, just shy. And yes I am wearing tennis shoes with my maxi skirt. I forego fashion for comfort, my feet thanked me!

Sawyer's favorite ride was Toy Story Mania! He loved putting on the glasses and laughed and laughed as the ride moved.

Just taken a break while waiting for the choo choo train in a bug's land.

Oh the pool. How I love the pool at this hotel, the chairs are so soft and comfy, honestly I could have spent my whole day at the pool without thinking twice about it.

You get chocolates on your pillow each night. Sawyer liked at little extra touch of magic.

And a family picture in front of the famous mouse himself!

The carousel, how my boy loves him a carousel. He loved the one in Disneyland, but not the one in California Adventure. Someone please explain that to me. As for myself, I think I got a little bit of motion sickness from riding that ride!

On Saturday night we went back to the hotel, got Sawyer to sleep, then packed him up and went to the World of Color show at California Adventure. It was so worth it! And we had to walk by cars land before heading back to the hotel, because it looks so cool at night with all the neon lights!

Our view from our hotel room. Spoiled I tell you, absolutely spoiled.

I think our family might be Disneylanded out for a little while, at least our stroller is. We were in the middle of Frontier land when our stroller's wheel fell completely off. Dixon and I exchanged a (did that really just happen) look and then laughed our heads off.
We had such a great time as a family. I love making memories with our little family!

Surprise of a lifetime

Monday night I was sitting on the couch, putting my feet up after a long day at work when we got a knock at the door. I thought for sure it was the missionaries, because they alway knock, so I ran upstairs cuz I was in my pjs. I sat at the top of the stairs peaking around the corner as Dixon opened the door to a big loud "SURPRISE!" to me and Dixon's amazement on my front porch stood my mom, ky, and syd. I sobbed so hard, tears of happiness/ shock/ excitement. They had told no one. It was a top secret mission: surprise the poop out of Shaylee. It worked.

There is something about these people that bring such happiness to my heart! They laugh out loud at the cheesy stuff like my jokes. That's true love right there.

Sawyer loved his grandma Beck and his aunts! He had them wrapped around the finger in a matter of .5 seconds!

People say we look alike, and I take that as the queen of compliments. My mom is gorgeous, and hilarious too.

Siddle brought all her nail polishes and gave me a pedicure of teal toes. This girl can kick some booty in the soccer division, and lyla is pretty darn fond of her!

And ky! This girl is officially a third grade teacher. How lucky are those kids to get such a sweet teacher. Ky has the biggest heart, and is so quick to think about others. I aspire to be more like her!

What did we three girls and handsome dude do for two days you ask?
We ate at Red Velvet, got large coke zeros(my new favorite thing), shopped the outlets, petted some brand new puppies, chatted each others heads off, hit up target, and made lots of fun memories!
Thanks for the wonderful surprise, dont know how I'll go about repaying you! Until then, my door is always open and welcomes those surprises any and everyday!

Adventures as of late

We've been on an adventure this past weekend. I won a trip with my work and they put us up at the grand Californian Hotel and gave us three day park hopper tickets to the parks for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I had Thursday off, so we met Dixon's parents in Oceanside, California for a fun day at the beach. I've dubbed the beach as my happy place. My heart is so happy there! And my baby boy seemed to like it too!
Today you get a picture overload of the beach. Like I said its my happy place. Tomorrow will be some Disney.

I love my sweet little family.

He played in the sand forever. He just didn't like his hands dirty.

I love this guy with my whole heart.

Sawyer and his "bompa"

Ever wonder what ocean water tastes like?

His face says it all. It tastes salty!

Lovin me some sun with my boy! Oh my heart is so happy! Summer is not complete without some kind of trip to the ocean. I went on a walk Friday morning. Along the coast, just sawyer and I. We wondered a little ways before I stopped the stroller and kneeled down to face my boy and said "sawyer do you want to go swimming!" He lives swimming and got all excited saying "wimmeen!" over and over. I took off my tennis shoes, peeled off my socks, and took sawyer in his white onesie and puffy morning eyes to sink our feet in the sand and dance in the waves! It was spontaneous. I usually don't like to put sandy feet in socks inside tennis shoes, but Friday morning my heart was happy, and I was craving some spontenuity. We walked the pier towards Ruby's and enjoyed people watching. And on our way back we took a slightly different route that led us to a swingset right there on the beach. And you bet I put the brakes on that stroller and picked my excited little up and plopped him in the swing, making sure he was swinging towards the ocean, so e could maybe feel like he was flying over it. Maybe I wanted to feel like I was flying over it, but the big kid swings were taken. But my boy enjoyed that swing ride even more than normal swing rides(it's probably just in my head though)! That walk was right what I needed. My body and soul had been craving it and I didn't even know it.
And that my friends, is why the beach is my happy place.

How do we survive this crazy, madness heat?

Popsicles. Lots and lots of Popsicles. The no clothes thing helps too, but I'll leave that to Sawyer.

The Popsicle brand makes mini melts popsicles. They are the most perfect size for this mini boy.

I'm pretty sure heaven consists of rocking chairs and sleeping babies.

Happiest Birthday

Dixon celebrated his 26 birthday yesterday! I love that we get a day each year to celebrate this fabulous person, the love of my life, and sawyer's amazing dad! We swam the night away and got Grimaldi's pizza for dinner. And to top it off, an Oreo shake with a candle on top!

Happiest birthday my sweet husband.

He got a watch from Sawyer (he had the funniest time picking it out. He's pretty convinced his dad will share it with him)! Such a thoughtful young son I've raised!

He also got a 'just do it USA' t shirt for the Olympics coming up. For those of you who don't know Dixon's love of the Olympics go back four years on this blog and read his post. Yes I've had this blog for four years.

This past year has been splendid, can't wait to see what year 26 brings you! Love you Dixon!

Happiest fourth of July! We celebrated by wearing our red, white, and blue. We were blessed with some rain and all I wanted to do was get in my sweats and take a nap curled up in a blanket. I know, I know. Party pooper. But we don't come by rain. In Vegas. In the summertime. Ever. So I had to celebrate accordingly. Thank goodness for Aunt Janae's pool party to get me out of my sweats:)

I was texted the following pictures:

Made my whole fourth of July complete!
And between you and me, my sisters are models. They take after my mom!

Reunion Adventures

I so enjoyed the Dixon family reunion and gettin I know the heritage of the family my husband is so lovingly named after! We stayed at a lodge in Brianhead and were entertained with so many fun activities! My heart was so incredibly happy to breath in that crisp, cool air. My eyes were happy to see so much beauty in the trees and wildflowers and mountains. The mountains recharge my spirits in a way that no where else can. My testimony Is always strengthened when I am in the mountains as I enjoy Heavenly Father's creations all around me. And my Soy Boy. Oh my boy he loved himself some dirt and mountains and playing with the balls and cousins!

Here he is getting his helmet on for his horse ride!

We rode the horse together for 10 minutes. First time on a horse for both of us!

Meet my horse, chief. He was so good to me, other than the fact he kept stopping to eat, we enjoyed our ride together. I suddenly understand why people love to ride a horse, it's kind of liberating.

We zip lined. Ive only done this one other time. I'm not a fan of heights. I try to tough it out. But I'm not a fan. But I did it! And I had a blast, it was a huge rush of adrenaline!

We made sure to drink lots of water because grandma Carolyn did not want us to get altitude sickness.

Dixon and Wade talked Alyssa and I into going mountain biking for 14 miles. Sisterly bonding for life. That was the hardest thing I have ever done. Mentally and physically. The views were so incredibly worth it though!

I took a pretty nasty fall towards the first of the ride, and all I could hear in my head were my sweet parents telling me to "get back up and try again." It made me so grateful I have parents who taught me to not give up and instilled in me a determination To finish what I start. I hope to be able to teach my children that.

We took many breaks that looked like this. And all I could think about was a big diet coke awaiting me at the end of the trail. I drank lots of water, but for some reason that diet coke called my name. I've never been happier to see a paved road in my life!

Here is us after the bike ride. Sunburned. Exhausted. So proud of ourselves.

And of course there are more pictures, but they are floating around on other cameras. Above all we had such a good time amongst family and enjoying the beautiful mountains.

My boys. Be still my heart.
