One more month
I love the Olympics, especially the Summer version. On that note, only one more month until the opening ceremonies. Just like 2004, we will be able to watch them in the comfort of a condo at North Coast Village with Keith providing continuing commentary on each country as they enter. I think NBC has him on the payroll this year, since 2004 was so entertaining. The actual events start August 6, since soccer players feel they need more than a day off between games, that is when womens soccer starts. NBC released their coverage schedule today and it blows my mind how things can change in 4 years. They are showing 3,600 hours of coverage this year, more than all previous summer olympic years combined. Of that 3600, 2700 is live. They are using all of their channels, including, MSNBC, CNBC, Telemundo (will it be in english?), bravo, oxygen and a few specialty channels on cable and satellite that will be sport specific...like showing all soccer or basketball games. I will have to empty our tivo for that month, as most of the live coverage will occur during the day.
I know some dont share my love of the games, but watching an american stand on the top of the podium with the national anthem playing is an amazing experience. It gives me chills just thinking about it. I love my country so much! It brings me such pride to see members of our military bring out a massive American flag out, as we witnessed at the Stadium of Fire last week. Then to see families able to talk to their dads overseas was more than I could handle. To be able to represent your country whether playing games or protecting the principles that we believe in has to be such a great experience. I understand the olympics are supposed to stand for good sportsmanship and such, but the way the Chinese keep trying to regulate every little thing, I hope we open a can on them in every sport! If they want to be a superpower, they have to get through us, what a great way to start by having Lebron dunk of Yao! We know there is a higher power watching over us if our Table Tennis team can win a medal. That is like Moses parting the Red Sea.
A month from now, take some time to watch the Opening Ceremonies, even if you dont recognize the names of some of the countries. Maybe we will set up a webcast from the beach so everyone can experience Keiths analysis and thoughts about the athletes from Djibouti!

Happy Birthday Dixon

Happy Birthday Dixon!
Yesterday was Dixon's 22 birthday, and I was so excited to spend it with him! I think his work knew it was his special day because they gave him the day off (actually it was his time off for fourth of July)! He woke up and got to have his favorite breakfast: Frootloops with marshmallows... talk about sugar... maybe thats what makes him so sweet.. hehehe! We both have been wanting to go see Wall-E, so we went to that. Other than the lady in front of us that laughed like a hyena and was so loud we could barely hear the show, and the girl sitting next to her that kept dropping her phone, we thoroughly enjoyed the show. Its definately different, but I loved that there was hardly any dialog, because you got to really appreciate body language... and the dialog wasn't there to distract from the simple body language!
Its a family tradition in both our families to have the birthday person choose their favorite restraunt and all go out to dinner, so Dixon chose his favorite: Pizza Hut... thin crust style! I was pleased with his decision I might add! So we had a fun night eating pizza and watching season four of 24 (its so strangely addicting).
So those are the details, but another tradition from my family, is when its your birthday you tell the reasons you love that person, or your favorite memory you have with them, so I will continue that tradition by adding the things I love about Dixon (I have actually made a 3 page list of why I love him, and its still going, so these are just a small few)
1. I love his love for his Savior
2. I love that he has an oppinion about everything, but will listen to others oppinions as well
3. I love his laught... its contagious
4. I love that he is so patient with me, and with everything else that he does
5. I love that he loves me for me
One of my favorite memories with Dixon:
The first time I went to Las Vegas to stay with his family, we went to a magic show on the strip, but we were way early to it, so we walked around the mall, and ended up in an art gallery and we held hands and looked at each portraits taking guesses about what the painter was thinking while painting the portrait! Good Times, Good Times
Happy Birthday, I love you!

Hangin With the Fam

On Saturday, Dixon went golfing with my dad... he did really good, I was impressed! While he was golfin, I got to do some serious swimming and tanning, since I have done neither since
Cancun! O man, good times good times! I love swimming!!! The boys met us at the pool after their game and we played around for a while, Dixon did a jumping dive and Syd said "Wow, Dixon is GREAT!" It made me laugh! Our family celebrated Dixon's birthday with an oreo cookie ice cream cake and some fun presents! I've come to the conclusion that it feels so good to see family... I have missed them! (o, and if the pictures haven't given it away already, Syd and Dixon have become good friends, she always wants to be by him!)

Fun Fourth

What a fun Fourth of July! We finally made it to Kaysville after one hour of traffic from Salt Lake... but it was worth the wait! We got to sleep in on the 4th and my dad made bannana pancakes (for those of you who don't know, my dad is an amazing cook)! We then ventured off to the Kaysville parade, which consists of maybe one float and lots of advertisements, but lots of candy and family fun:) We then had a family bbq and went to stadium of fire. Stadium of fire was a lot of fun. We got to drive with Ky and her boyfriend, Randon...he's a nice guy and he makes her so happy. It was so stressful getting there, but once we were there we were able to relax a little. Syd sat with me and Dixon, and that was so much fun, Dixon made it so fun for her, I think she loves having an older brother. He is such a blessing in our family! Kenadee did so good in her dance! They worked so hard, they had practices on that field for three days straight... it was so fun to watch her do what she loves to do! We were her biggest fans... pretty sure of it! I loved the Blue Man Group... they only performed for maybe 20 minutes, but they left me wanting more, I would love to go to their show sometime! Miley Cyrus also sang, but I was a little disappointed cuz she only sang the songs that are on her upcoming album, so noone knew the words... bummer! But still so much fun! Thank you so much for letting us come play with you guys for the fourth we had so much fun, we love you!!!

Happy Fourth of July

Nobody's Perfect! I gotta work it! Again and again 'til I get it right Nobody's Perfect! You live and you learn it! And if I mess it up sometimes...Nobody's perfect!! (For those of you who don't know, these are lyrics to Miley Cyrus song...its Syd's favorite). Its true... Me and Dixon are leaving for my hometown today, and we get to go see my little sister Kenadee dance with Hannah Montana at the Stadium of Fire!! And yes, we will both be singing along... hehehe! GOOD LUCK KEN! We are so lucky cuz Sydnee gets to sit with us and she LOVES Hannah Montana, so it will be fun to see her face during the concert!:) Happy Fourth of July!

Dreams
I have been having crazy dreams lately! Dixon has challenged me to finish the seventh Harry Potter by the time we go to the beach (which is nearly a month away..woot woot), so I have been reading like crazy! My teachers always told me that reading was good for me, but I beg to differ! I have had so many Harry Potter dreams lately...Sometimes I actually think that I live at Hogwarts. Between Voldemort chasing me and Ron (which is Dixon disguised as Ron) Weasley trying to save me, I have not been getting the best of sleep. So after thinking it over, I decided that I needed to start a new book... one that wouldn't lead me to believe I'm someone with magical powers!
So I did the logical thing... I headed to the library to get a library card (Having fun isn't hard, when you've got a library card! Name that show...)! Welp, when I got there, there was a massive line so I decided to check the place out. It was one of the better libraries I've seen, but that was until I met the librarian. When the line had died down, I walked to the front desk and asked if I could get a library card. The librarian looked me up and down and in a firm..demeaning voice she said: "IF your over 18, then I need proof of that, and I'll need proof of your address, and I'll need 3 references that I can contact to make sure you'll treat our books right." And with that, I was out of there. I finally got up the courage to go back yesterday, and after another confrontation with the lady, I recieved my bright yellow library card (why would you make a library card yellow... it doesn't make much sense to me). Needless to say, I now have in my lap a good book by Nicholas Sparks that IS DUE IN TWO WEEKS. I capitalize that because thats how this lady told me when it was due. Come on people, its not like I'm completely incomprehensive... I mean just cuz I have dreams that I'm Harry Potter, doesn't mean that I can't understand english!
So hopefully, the Potter dreams will come to a halt and I will be able to get a good nights rest!
