Obituaries

Shay had an assignment in her lifespan development class to write two obituaries, one if she died today and one 50 years from now. She asked me to write the current one and she wrote the other. Here they are...

Shaylee Anderson Leavitt
Las Vegas- Our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2060. The second oldest of six, Shaylee Anderson Leavitt was born on August 14, 1989, just three minutes after her twin sister, to her parents, Robert and Becky Anderson in Ogden, UT. She enjoyed participating in dance, soccer, piano, and many other sports. She graduated from seminary and Davis High School, where she enjoyed acting on stage and performing her award winning oratories. Shaylee graduated from Southern Utah University, where she met the love of her life, Dixon Wade Leavitt. They were sealed in the Bountiful temple on May 28, 2008. She later went on to graduate from UNLV with her masters in Psychology. There is nothing more she loved on this earth than being with her family. She was such a loving mother and grandmother, and thrived on their happiness. Her grandchildren lovingly refer to her as “Grammy Shay Shay.” She served many various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, including two missions to different countries with her husband. Shaylee enjoyed traveling and getting to meet people from so many different cultures. She could often be found reading, visiting with people, or serving somewhere. We will greatly miss her and her sweet spirit. She is survived by her husband, four children, four sisters, one brother, fifteen grandchildren, and four great grand children. She is preceded in death by her two loving parents.

Cedar City – Our beloved wife and sister sadly passed away. Shaylee lived a full, blessed life, always putting the needs of others in front of her own. Happiness was not hard to find when in Shay’s presence; with a big smile and loving words she could make even the most downtrodden soul feel uplifted. Shaylee was born August 14, 1989 as a twin to Robert and Becky Anderson in Ogden, UT. She was the eldest of six kids. Nearly one year ago, Shaylee married the love of her life, Dixon Wade Leavitt. They were sealed together on May 28, 2008 in the Bountiful Utah Temple. She always gave unwavering support to her husband. Shaylee always worked hard in school and was only a year away from receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She will be missed.

It is weird to think about that, but was an interesting assignment!

Dancing Diva

Yesterday, we had a lot of fun with my family! Kenadee had a dance competition in St. George, so we got to go play with them!

Story #1: Ok, so here's the funny story! Kenadee had a dance competition.... and FORGOT her costume for her dance... hahaha (reminds me of the days when I would forget my pajamas for a sleepover, but my house was only five minutes away instead of a six hour drive). So my mom thought up a plan: she had Ky drive the dress to Nephi, and then I journeyed about two hours 15 minutes to Nephi and two hours 15 minutes back and another hour to St. George! Needless to say, I'm glad I got the dress so we could see her dance, she is so talented, and it is so fun to watch her! I can't believe the talent she has!

While in St. George we got to:

-shop and Old Navy and pick up a cute shirt

-sit by the pool and get sunkissed

-get Dixon's golf clubs lengthened, so he doesn't have an excuse if he golfs bad

-eat a yummy dinner with the fam at Olive Garden!!

-visit Chase and Destiny

-cheer Kenadee on and on!! This was our favorite part!

-talk to my mom (I miss those talks about absolutely nothing and yet we laugh and laugh!!)

We had such a blast! Thank you for all the great memories family!! We love you.

exciting news: We got a new cousin on Thursday! Danee Mae Whetman, and we can't wait to see her!!

HAPPY EASTER! Wow, we have been so busy the past week and a half. Let me update you on what is new with us!

- First off..... I can see! I go to class and I can read the powerpoints and the board, and when I drive I can read the street signs! It's a wonderful feeling. I'm still feeling a little self consiouss wearing my glasses, but I'm starting to get used to them. The first day I got them, I thought I was going to throw up because they made me so sick!

- I got my bangs cut... This was BADLY needed

-We went on a picnic for dinner yesterday and attracted all the kids with Lyla!

- Dixon shaved his head, and he looks amazing as always!

- We went and watched our friend Chase play baseball in St. George and visited with his wife Destiny. It felt so good to be out in the sun!

- We only have two more weeks of school left and one week of tests... we are so excited!

-We got a visit from my Aunt Steffanie and her family, it was so good to see them

-Dixon got me some easter flowers

-We cleaned our carpets!!

And now for some stories!

Story #1: I have been dying to see Marley and Me. So when it came out on DVD, I wanted to wait a week or two so we could get it at red box. Well, on Saturday, Dixon and I got online and saw that it was at Albertson's, so I was like "we have to hurry!!" So we run over there, and just two seconds before we're at the redbox, these two ladies get there before we do. So I listen to their conversation that goes as follows: "do you want to see anything?" "I dunno" "have you seen Marley and Me?" (my heart starts to beat a little faster) "Is that out? Ya, that sounds good." and they steal that DVD away from me. So there I am, I don't even want to look at the Red Box to see if there was another copy... but to my surprise there was, so I was so happy. So Dixon pulls up to the house and says to me "If God has a sense of humor, this DVD is going to be scratched." We sit down, get comfy, put the movie in, and sure enough it was scratched. I almost cried. So out we went on a scavenger hunt to every redbox in Cedar to find this movie, just when we had checked just about everyone Dixon stopped at a nearby grocery store and suggested we look there before we go home, I walked up discouraged, scrolled through their movies... and it was there!!! I was so happy I even started doing my happy dance! The movie was well worth it, except I bawled my eyes out towards the end, it was a great movie!

Story #2:

My family went to California without us. I was jealous, especially when they stayed the night with us, and they were leaving our house and it started snowing!! Anyways, on their way home, they stopped to say hi, they were only here for maybe ten minutes, but it was good to see them. They were acting so weird though, like looking through all my stuff and snooping and stuff. O well, I thought they were just antsy to get home. After they left, I went into the office to get some work left and found an egg...thus began our easter egg hunt. My family hid 16 eggs without me noticing and a suprise package. I still haven't found all of them. Here's the places I have found eggs so far:

-my freezer

-inside my hat

-in the laundry basket

-in our toothbrush holder

-under the plunger

-in my makeup

-in Dixon's suit coat

-by my scriptures

-behind the picture frame in the back bedroom

-on a shelf behind a game in my guest bedroom closet

Our two "special eggs" (they each had money in them) were hidden hard. Mine was in the oreos (I don't ever eat oreos, so I would have never even thought to look there.) and Dixon's was inside his shoe that's on display on top of my cupboards! Our suprise package consisting of Reese's eggs and flip flops was in a suitcase in the back bedroom! We still have four more to find! They were so sweet to think of us, and we have had a lot of fun looking for our eggs! Thank you family!!

Visit to the Eye Doctor

Conclusion: I have a stigmatism. I need glasses for reading, class, driving especially at night, and when watching games on tv so I can see the score.

The story: I have been noticing that my vision has been slowly diminishing, after being teased by Dixon when I couldn't read the score on the bottom of the tv if I had my right eye closed, I decided it was time I pay the eye doctor a visit. Dixon has been getting a lot of headaches later, so we both decided to go. I was first to take the eye exam. I failed miserably, I didn't even get like half the letters right, so after the doc gives me my diagnosis he puts this eye numbing liquid in my eyes, so he could check for cataracts and all the good stuff. I seriously couldn't feel myself blink for ten minutes. Dixon was next, he just needs glasses for reading and while he uses the computer. So... first eye docotor trip down, sadly more to come in the future.

Viva Las Vegas

I kn ow it looks like there is mold on the ceiling, but actually, it's all blown glass flowers! It was really cool!

This weekend, we made a trip to Las Vegas! We were hoping to see the Rebels play in the Mountain West Conference tournament, but they dissapointed us by losing in the first round, so we got to see BYU, Utah, Wyoming, and Sandiego State play instead. It was ok though, because after the games, we went and got the best frozen custard in the world...Luv Its. They were fun games, I really do enjoy watching a good game of basketball here and there.

-One of Dixon's mission companions and his wife (Trevor and Lauren Tripp) came down to visit us. They are so much fun! We went with them down to the strip on Saturday night and we went to the Bellagio's gardens and watched the fountains there. We also went to the Coca Cola factory and tasted coke products from around the world, hahaha the drink, Beverly from Italy, is the very best one, I think you should all try it!

-We got to hear Chase give an amazing talk at church on Sunday, and Sadly, missed him playing Volleyball today because of a sprained ankle... no fun!

-For Hannah's birthday, Wade took us all to Geisha, a Japenese steakhouse, and the fillet mignon is AMAZING!!

-Our cute friends from Cedar City came down on Sunday and we went to Nordstrom Rack with them, went to ESPN zone for lunch, and layed by the pool at the Planet Hollywood! They are so much fun, and we have had a blast getting to know them.

-Lyla got groomed for the second time in her life, she wouldn't even look at me when I went to pick her up because she was so mad at me.

-Alyssa and Lauren showed me how to shop Nordstrom. I had so much fun with them, and they have such good taste in clothes. I struggle in the shopping department, I like to have people who know how to shop with me so they can tell me what's cute!

It was so good to see everyone and we are so grateful we have family in a good driving distance! So many fun memories!! Thanks guys

Guess Who's Here!!

Fun Weekend

This past weekend, Dixon and I went up to Kaysville to babysit the fam while my parents were in California. We had a blast. Dixon and Sydnee beat me and Landon at Basketball. Syd and I went to my Aunt Aimee's baby shower and got to see grandma Kathy and a lot of our extended family, it was so good to see everyone. Landon won his basketball game scoring around 10 points...the boy was on fire, and he earned a slurpee for his excellent performance. On Saturday, Alec and Tiff came over and we got Red Robin (BBQ chicken salad is my FAVORITE) and watched the rebels lose to San Diego State. It was kind of disappointing, but it was so good to see Alec and Tiff, we haven't seen them in a long time. We got to see Kenadee's cute dance costumes, it makes me so excited to go to her dance competition in April! Overall, we had so much fun, we haven't seen everyone since Christmas, so it was a much needed trip (at least for me it was:)) We love Family!!
